Multiplex consists of a series of nine vases on a plexiglass stand, all of which use clay channels to create variations on the idea of a ‘stability’ vase. They are informed by Brutalist architectural aesthetics, including the building they were made to be housed in.
Isobel Thom
Isobel Thom was born in Auckland, graduating with an MFA in 1990 from the University of Auckland. She lived and worked in New York from 1995 to 2005. After a decade overseas she returned to undertake a Doctorate in Fine Arts in Auckland, graduating in 2011.
Her work has been included in a number of exhibitions that have been seminal to the development of art in Aotearoa New Zealand.
